Regional overview
The Amambay and Mbaracayú ranges are low, biologically important uplands on Paraguay’s north/northeast borderlands. Hiking is concentrated in Cerro Corá National Park, private eco-adventure sites around Pedro Juan Caballero, Cerro Memby, and the Mbaracayú protected areas. Many routes need local access confirmation.
Selection rationale
The five hikes cover the Amambay and Mbaracayú ranges’ essential walking themes: the signature Cerro Muralla viewpoint in Cerro Corá National Park, the park’s historical / Aquidabán loop tied to the War of the Triple Alliance, the private-reserve circuit at Chacurrú Ecoturismo, the isolated Cerro Memby summit, and the Salto Karapã forest-waterfall trail inside the Mbaracayú reserve landscape.

Missing data / follow-up work
- No official GPX/KML files were verified for these Amambay and Mbaracayú walks; geometry depends on Wikiloc recorded tracks whose reuse terms remain unchecked.
- Cerro Memby maximum elevation conflicts between sources (Wikiloc 444 m vs Visit Paraguay 325 m) and current local access/contact details may be stale.
- Chacurrú Ecoturismo distance and elevation statistics are unresolved.
- Salto Karapã trail elevation profile and current reserve access conditions are unresolved.
- Licence-compatible photography is missing for Chacurrú, Cerro Memby individual files, and the Salto Karapã trail itself.
