Regional overview
The Amambay and Mbaracayú ranges are low, biologically important uplands on Paraguay’s north and northeast borderlands. Hiking is concentrated in Cerro Cora National Park, private eco-adventure sites around Pedro Juan Caballero, Cerro Memby, and the Mbaracayú protected areas. Many routes need local access confirmation.
Selection rationale
The five hikes balance the official park walking in Cerro Cora (the Cerro Muralla viewpoint and the historic Aquidaban loop), a private eco-reserve circuit at Chacurru Ecoturismo, an outlier summit at Cerro Memby, and the most substantial documented walk inside the Reserva Natural del Bosque Mbaracayú on the Salto Karapa trail.
